Nags Head hiking trail is wheelchair-accessible

More than two years in the making, a new hiking trail will open to the public this week in Nags Head Woods.

The best part: Everyone can enjoy it.

Designed to accommodate wheelchair users and parents pushing strollers, the flat, one-mile trail loops around a picturesque pond on concrete pathways and boardwalk-type decking. There are several viewing platforms, including one designed for catch-and-release fishing. Another platform perched above marsh grasses faces the Albemarle Sound, providing a glimpse of Roanoke Island usually reserved for more athletic hikers. Click to read the full article
