Another successful stair lift install in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Here are a few pictures our tech Ken took of a recent stair lift install. We actually were able to order this one in and get it installed within a week! Our client’s wife was coming home from the hospital and needed this stair lift to be able to get upstairs to her bedroom. Thanks to everyone both in Richmond and here doing all they could to expedite this order, we were able to install this unit the day before she got home. Without the lift, she would have never been able to get up the stairs. The clients couldn’t be happier!

Mobility Supercenter installs 2 stair lifts for one client in Myrtle Beach

Here are some pictures from another recent home install in which we installed 2 stair lifts for a client. His dad was coming to live with him here at the beach, and due to health conditions would not be able to make it up the stairs at all. However, he could perform a transfer while on a the middle landing; just not able to navigate steps. The answer for him were this pair of Brooks stair lifts. Now with these installed, his father can easily and safely get to the top floor of the home with no issues. Yet another satisfied customer! He thanked us for the solution and the savings – we weren’t the only company that he had out for an estimate, but was very pleased that he chose us!

Mobility Supercenter in Myrtle Beach installs a Vertical Platform Lift for easy access to a home

Above is a picture from a recent VPL home install we completed just last week. Our client was looking for an access solution to make it easier for his wife to get into their home. The steps in the garage were just becoming too much for her and it was becoming unsafe. This Bruno VPL-3153B was the solution. The steps have been removed and replaced with the VPL. Now his wife has no trouble at all getting into the home, and with the unit in the garage she is out of the elements as well! A very satisfied customer.

Summer is just around the corner, so thoughts turn to the beach and all of the fun activities. Surfing is one of those activities and Mobility Supercenter in Myrtle Beach is participating in an event put on by Coastal Adaptive Sports. In the spirit of summer, we thought Coastal Adaptive Sports would be a great organization to feature: a non-profit organization serving the recreational needs of persons with disabilities in the communities of North and South Carolina.

Their goal is to help people with disabilities achieve their full potential through active lifestyles that include fitness and recreation, resulting in a better quality of life.

You will find their activities welcoming, affordable, and offered in inviting environments. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend. The “Wheel to Surf” event is May 5th in Surfside Beach, just south of Myrtle Beach.  In addition, another event will be held at Folly Beach State Park on May 12th.

“Wheel to Surf” is an adaptive surfing clinic for people with all levels of physical and cognitive abilities to get out and enjoy the waves – come join us for the best day of the year!

In addition to recreational activities, we also promote social events that bring people with mobility impairments and their support groups together to celebrate achievements and gain recognition. Go to their website.  http://coastaladaptivesports.org or contact Brock for more information.   Email: brockwjohnson@gmail.com

Getting to Know Amanda Todd at Mobility Supercenter at our Murrells Inlet store

Get to know Amanda, our third highlighted employee in our “Getting to Know us at Mobility Supercenter”.  Amanda is likely the first person you will talk to when entering our building or calling on the phone at our Murrell’s Inlet, S.C. location.

Q:  Tell me about yourself and your family.

A:  I have a beautiful 20-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old baby boy.  We also have a cat named Selena and a dog named Gino.  They are both rescue pets and a huge part of our family.  We couldn’t imagine life without them.

Q:  We know you love work, but what do you enjoy doing outside of work?

A:  Well, we live at the beach, so our summer activities certainly include the pool, going to festivals and, of course, going to the beach.  I also love baking, reading and taking bike rides.

Q:  Awesome, you sound busy!  How long have you worked for Mobility Supercenter?

A:  I have worked here coming up on 3 years.

Q:  What did you do prior to working here?  How did you end up at Mobility Supercenter?

A:  Prior to working here I was in collections and vehicle repossessions.  I had some vehicle background, and this seemed to be a nice fit.

Q:  As with any job, I am sure there are challenges.  What would you say the biggest challenges are in your current job?

A:  When someone comes to us to give them help we are not always immediately able to assist them.  Seeing their struggle wants me to be able to meet their needs immediately, but that’s not always possible.  We really must evaluate their needs and some items are custom, which means it takes a bit longer.

Q:  Along with challenges I am sure there are some rewards.  What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

A:  I would say that my relationships with my customers.  I have met some of the nicest people and have been able to build friendships with them.   This job allows me to assist people and really make a difference in their lives.  That is different than any job I’ve ever had before, and it makes me feel good.
